The Events

Kayaking31st July – Kayak & Launch Night The first event! We will be Kayaking from 9am leaving Brixham’s Breakwater beach and heading over to Torre Abbey Sands in torquay….then back! To celebrate the launch of 23 Events for Bertie, we will be launching at 6pm, Trents in Torquay – with live bands!
Rowing Machine21st August – Multi Event Cycling and Row Taking place on Torquay Seafront at the Beefeater/Premier Inn, we will be participating in an intensive cycle and row on exercise machines. The row will be equivalent to the Strait of Dover and the cycle will be eqivalent of the last stage of the Tour de France (Each being about 62 miles).
Running22nd August – Torbay Regatta 10k Road Race The first running event is the Torbay Royal Regatta. See http://www.torbay10k.org.uk for more details a nice lean in to some of the runs we will be undertaking.. This falls on the Sunday of the royal regatta weekend (a full weekend of sailing racing within the bay) and is always a well attended event running from torquay to paington and back to finish on torquay seafront again
Cycling5th September – 70k Challenge Ride from Honiton to Teignmouth A demanding 70km cycle from Honiton to Teignmouth across varying terrain this is a stage of the official tour of GB although we will not be racing we will be pushing to get “home” for a cold one.. http://www.tourride.co.uk/south-west-challenge-ride.asp
Cycling8th – 10th October – Cycle from London to Paris An 8 hour trip to the south coast will see us travel across the puddle to France and cycle for 2 days to beautiful Paris. Starting on London’s Embankment ending under the Eiffel tower…doing about 70 miles per day for 3 days!
HikingJanuary 15th & 16th 2011 – Self Sufficient trek across Dartmoor A slightly more intense version of the famous ten tors held in January this will prove to be a challenging event. We will be taking on as many tors as possible on a circumnavigation of Dartmoor carrying enough supplies to survive for the 3 nights 2 days. A navigate as we go hit all the tors on Dartmoor trek… How many will we make…?? AND NO SHOPS
DancingJanuary 22nd – Winter Charity Ball This will be located in Torquay and all proceeds will be donated to the cause. Further details and ticket information will be available as details are confirmed.
This was a massive success!
Swimming12th February 2011 – 80k Swim Based in a pool, we will all do a tough endurance swim totalling 23km. This will be held at Plainmoor swimming pool.

Cycling9th April – 15th April 2011 – John O’Groats to Lands End Cycle One of the most iconic cycles ever created, done by many completed by few. We will cycle the length of the country 1000 miles (approx) and end in sunny Cornwall.

Track Day30th April 2011 – Track Day Featuring Bertie’s legendary Drift car, a fully organised open lane track day. More details to follow soon – this is not to be missed!
Running1st May 2011 – Great West Run The Half Marathon will again start and finish at Exeter Arena, Athletics Stadium and follow a 2 lap course taking in Exeter City Centre. See http://www.thegreatwestrun.co.uk for more details.
Triathlon22nd May 2011 – Triathlon Swimming, Cycling and Running in the form of 1 km swim, 26 km ride, 10 km run in sequence

Cycling28th – 29th May 2011 – Kernow 600 600km Cycle across the South West peninsular including overnight cycling. This will really test our endurance and being able to keep a steady pace into the night.
Party4th June 2011 – Bertie 23 Bonanza! 23 mini challenges to celebrate Bertie’s birthday. This will include many different challenges such as a 23k cycle, 23 burger eating competition and many, many more!

Dartmoor Walk10th – 11th June 2011 – Dartmoor Challenge 60 miles, Friday night and Saturday morning – a hard walk in preperation for the 24 and 3 peaks

Running19th June 2011 – Torbay Half Marathon The Iconic Torbay half marathon, this is one of the most popular in the country due to the amazing views and efficient organisation making this a challenging and enjoyable day. See http://www.torbayhalfmarathon.co.uk for more details
Hiking2nd – 3rd July – 24 Peaks 24 peaks in the Lake District, each one over 2,400 feet (including the highest peak in England), walked in 24 hours, over one weekend. See http://www.24peaks.co.uk for more details
Cycling9th July – Cycle to London A day cycling to London and a night out, ready for our 10km run the next day! 170 miles of glorious British countryside

Running10th July 2011 – London Asics 10k The Asics 10k takes team 23 to the capital city.
Pedal Kart17th July 2011 – Pedal Car Grand PrixOrganised by the Rotary Club, one of our sponsors – the Pedal Car Grand Prix takes place in Torbay every year and we shall be entering a team

Hiking29th – 31st July 2011 – 3 Peaks The greatest challenge of all, 3 of the highest points in Great Britain walked in one weekend. Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scafell Pike
